Pontos Fortes: It is very compact, lightweight and great for traveling.
Pontos Fracos: Having software installation problems.
I have used this product before. A friend had the same one. I loved it, and that is why I purchased it now. I have a new PC with windows XP. For some reason, the cd-rom it comes with is not installing the keyboard's software properly. The instruction manual is brief adn the troubleshooting guide on the cd is of no help. I am determined to figure out what the problem is, but honestly...had I known...
Pontos Fortes: Very portable. Connects easily to Palm handhelds. Reasonable price.
Pontos Fracos: Keyboard not really "full size."
There are times when my laptop is too much to lug around, but I have too much writing to do to use Graffiti or hunt and peck with the stylus. This keyboard fills the gap nicely. Folded up in its integral shell, it's not much bigger than my Palm, so it's quite portable. If your handheld connects to the internet, this is a great way to keep up with your email. Communication between my Zire 31 and...
Pontos Fortes: Compact, lightweight, easy to set up if you go to their website. Great for taking notes in class or surfing the web.
Pontos Fracos: A bit small for my hands but that's why it's portable. Drains battery of handheld because it uses the IR signal.
I don't know why everyone's fussing about it being troublesome to set up. I have a Tungsten T5. All I needed to do was download the lastest driver from the palm website and follow the directions. DONE! Just make sure you don't use the driver that's included on the cd.
Pontos Fortes: Compact. Works with Treo 650
Pontos Fracos: Fragile
I do lot of emailing using Treo 650. After I started using the "Universal Wireless Keyboard", the time I spend sending the same amount of emails is cut down to less than half. The only thing I would worry about is the life of the product due to the fragile design.
Pontos Fortes: Massive geek-chic appeal. PDA & keyboard are much lighter than a laptop, but nearly as good for entering a lot of text. Keyboard key response is good.
Pontos Fracos: The keyboard layout departs from a standard QWERTY layout for some keys. Can't connect power cord while using the keyboard on the Zire 72.
This keyboard is excellent for entering text, it's so much faster than graffiti or the on-screen keyboard. It has a number row up top so you don't have to deal with that FN-key weirdness just to type a number. (I had one of those tri-fold keyboards for the M100 and I just hated it. It was clumsy and flimsy. You had to put go to function keys to type numbers since it was "compact") I keep having...
Pontos Fortes: Lightweight, ultra-compact, versitile, near full-size
Pontos Fracos: Maybe too lightweight, i.e. might not last.
The palmOne Universal Wireless Keyboard is, for me at least, an essential accessory for my PDA. I bought the keyboard as I frequently enter long notes into my PDA and am very bad at entering data using graffiti. None the less, I would recommend the keyboard even if you are proficient at graffiti as it afford a number of other advantages, the most important being a full range of characters and...
Pontos Fortes: Nice design, very compact
Pontos Fracos: Works intermittently, Flimsy IR Arm
I am using this with a Treo 650 and it is very unreliable. It comes with driver 1.05 but there is an update to 1.08 on Palmone's website. Neither driver works good. When I am in the sms program, it sends double messages and turns the caplocks on. Sometimes the keys works and sometimes they don't and it is very frustrating. The layout is good. The pda stand is flimsy. I have noticed that the...
Pontos Fortes: Very compact and portable as well as easy to put in a large sized pocket. Great for typing up papers when you don't have access to a computer. Hotkeys as well as function keys provide quick access.
Pontos Fracos: Directions are a bit hazy and there's no way to tell if it's off or on. Also the backslash/question mark in in the wrong place, they put it to the right of the shift key, really annoying.
Overall a good product and a great deal. If they could work out the few quirks it would be great, don't know why they switched the position of the backslash/question mark key. The hotkeys are great shortcuts to navigate the palm without using the stylus.
Pontos Fortes: It's a terrific keyboard in almost every way. It's easy to haul around, set up, and use.
Pontos Fracos: It doesn't work with the Treo 650.
I returned a keyboard and traded in my Treo before finding out that this device simply doesn't work with the 650. It skips input, doesn't register the shift and function keys when it's not in the mood, and generally annoys the bejeezus out of 650 users. For anything else--great. But not for the 650. And NOBODY at Palm--not tech support, not the store staff--and NOBODY at Sprint knows that, which...

Great product, but not for Treo 650!
Pontos Fortes: compact, ingenious design, exceptional battery life, seems to be holding up well
Pontos Fracos: major compatibility issues with Treo 650, misplaced question mark key
I bought this keyboard to complement my Treo 650 and enable me to take notes in class as I would with a laptop. The keyboard is definitely well-engineered, folding up to be about the same size as the PDA. Also, under about 2 months of heavy use (about 10-12 hours per week), the battery level monitor still indicates a 75% charge. However, this keyboard exhibits several glitches when used with the...
