Pontos Fortes: Excellent pictures, easy menu, many options, long battery life with rechargeables, folding monitor, and great video.
Pontos Fracos: weight, no anti-shake system
Resumo: I owned a A-80 and was not satisfied with the pictures. One picture would be great and the next would not be acceptable. Canon got it right this time. No bad pictures. Take numerous videos and piece them together with the video software provided. The automatic mode seems flawless. The flash operates sometimes when it is not needed and turning off the flash is as easy as pressing the up arrow and retaking the shot. I purchased a 512mg Lexar 80 speed and the pictures copy imediately, ready for the next shot using the fine mode. I am very satisfied and recommended this camera to anyone.

Resumo: 2005-08-11 20:57:12 This is my third digital camera and the picture quality was excellent. I take pictures and crop them down to post on the internet and these were very clear. But the camera weighs 11.8 ounces and taking it on vacation was a problem. Carrying a wallet, some sunglasses and this camera is a heavy load. The camera is a little too big to fit in a pocket.
I read the manual twice but still found a lot of features I would never use. Perhaps in time I will be inspired to learn new photo skills and use these features.
I liked that it takes AA batteries. I ran out of battery in Bali and was able to solve my problem for $1. It would have ruined my vacation not to be able to shoot any more photos. But again the size- I found myself jealous of all those women slipping their tiny cameras into their pocket.
It is hard for me to rate the A-95. It is the best camera I ever had but the wrong camera for me. I would not buy it again.

Pontos Fortes: Very high image quality. LCD is bright in dark and light situations. Tons of maual features.
Pontos Fracos: Limited 3X zoom. Somewhat small for BIG hands. Redeye can be an issue, but is easily taken care of with the photo editor software.
Resumo: This camera has all the manual features you could ever need at this level of digital photography. The FlexiZone AF is fast and allows you to focus anywhere in the frame. The swivel LCD comes in very handy, and is easily viewed in dark and bright situations. The output from the 5MP is outstanding! Picture taking is fast and fun. The A95 is simply the best all around digital camera I have ever used. I highly recommend this camera.

Pontos Fortes: Reasonable Cost, 4-AA batteries (lower cost rechargeable with great life), good form and feel and features!
Pontos Fracos: None so far other than some redeye. I seem to get this with all my cameras. The software eliminated it completely and easily like magic!!!
Resumo: I had used a competitve 3Meg camera a few weekends ago and their redeye reduction was not as thorough. I am looking forward to some great family shots with this camera. A lot of features to understand but that is a good thing! So far I have just played around with about 1/3 of the potential scene modes plus the video/sound recording. Nothing but praise so far. Good luck! It was between the digital rebel and this A95 but the A95 won out due to size/cost since this was my first digital camera. Maybe next year for the SLR since you know prices will continue to drop!

Pontos Fracos: If you don't buy rechargable batteries, it will spend a lot of money on batteries.
Resumo: This is my second digital camera. My previous one was a 2.2megapix. I like that the camera is easy to operate for non adavnced users and it also has many other advanced features such as:
-Photo Effects: Low Sharpening, Vivid Color, Neutral, Sepia and B&W
-15 pre-programmed creative scene modes
-Shutter speeds of 15 seconds
Overall, I am happy with the camera.

Rotating LCD screen.
So many creative shooting modes even under water with special case.
Excellent pictures.
Fairly easy to use for first time user.

32mb CF card to small.
Resumo: After much research I decided on the Canon A95 due to its size and excellent features. This is my first digital camera and I looked at several smaller more compact camera's but had problems using some of the functions due to their small size. This camera is large enough to use all of the functions without getting lost.
I really liked the rotating LCD screen and the many creative shooting modes. Being this is my first diital camera I found it takes high quality pictures and is fairly easy to use.
The Card and battery doors are a little flimsy but with a little caution should not be a problem.
Overall very happy with performance

Resumo: I would recommend this camera for the price. The software is very easy to use and I like the filing system compared to the Fuji or Kodak software.

Pontos Fortes: The camera takes photos w/good clarity, is lightweight and easy to handle. Many features to use (which I have not tried yet). Viewing screen flips out for timed use.
Pontos Fracos: The camera is a bit slow to focus and definitely too slow in actual shutter action.
Resumo: So far, I like this camera. I like that the view screen flips out and look forward to using it in timed photos;my daughter likes seeing herself in the screen when I take a photo of her. I haven't used the movie feature yet. The plastic door for the compact flash has been no problem unlike other reviews I've read. I do wish it had a neck strap w/it, not just a wrist strap as I'm fearful I'll bang it or drop it w/the wrist strap. The photos are easy to transfer to your computer. There are many features which is a plus...since I don't use it everyday however, I must continually refer to the manual to use the features each time.

Pontos Fortes: Great camera. Just as good as my Nikon 70 SLR. I like the fact that I can use auto or manual. The A95 has everything needed to take fantastic pictures.

Resumo: I am so glad I read Dave's Picks. After reading the reviews I bought the A95. If I had just gone and bought any digital I know I would not have been as happy as I am with this camera. I also purchased a canon ip3000 photo printer. Professional looking photographs. I will check Dave's picks when ever I am buying anything in the future.

Pontos Fortes: Great color, ease to use and very solid feeling. Uses CF cards and AA batteries that are available everywhere. Quick start up. Canon reputation.
Pontos Fracos: 4x or 5x optical would be better.
Resumo: I have an older Casio QV3000 and bought my Mom the A95 for Xmas. I used it and was so impressed I bought one for myself.

Resumo: I was drawn between the A95, and Nikon's 5200. Both are 5 mega pix, but the Canon has a flip out display and was a little less expensive. I am satisfied with the Canon. It has plenty of options, great picture quality, and is very simple to use. A good all around camera.

Pontos Fortes: The camera is very easy to use. I love the LCD screen that rotates. It is a very versatile camera. It takes wonderful pictures.

Resumo: I would recommend this camera to anyone. I love everything about it. I like the fact that I can add lenses to it if I like also. It is very easy to handle even for a person with small hands. This is just a great camera.

I bought the A95 4 months ago. This past month, when I was on vacation, I brought the camera into a camera store to download the pictures onto a CD-ROM. The clerk removed and then re-inserted the CF card. Camera stopped working soon after. Returned camera to Canon. They charged me $155 to fix the bent pins where the CF card is inserted. CF card only goes in 1 way, how did they get bent?
I normally use the USB cord to download pictures from the camera.
My first Canon (A70) broke after 18 months. American Express refunded me the money under their extended warranty policy. So I bought the A95. My friend told me he was warned by a store clerk that downloading via USB will wear the camera out. Maybe they are right.
No more Canon's for me.
